Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine has announced the 2009 Employee Choice Program Recipient

DENVER, March 20 – Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine has announced Judi’s House as the recipient of the 2009 Employee’s Choice Program.  The Employee’s Choice Program at Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine allows all of the employees to enter an annual drawing where the winner chooses a charity they would like the company to support for the upcoming calendar year.

For 2009, the employee winner was Amy Hansen, a Front Office Coordinator at the Englewood location. Amy chose Judi’s House as the charity of choice for 2009 because Amy lost her father rather suddenly when she was nine years old and within the next year and a half, both of her grandmothers.

The mission of Judi’s House is to help children and families who are grieving the death of a loved one find hope and healing within themselves. At Judi’s House, an environment of acceptance and understanding allows children and adults in peer support groups to share the experience of loss with others. Judi’s House increases awareness and knowledge of grieving children’s needs by extending grief support services to schools, faith-based groups, hospices, and other caregivers in the community.
When asked why she supports the efforts of Judi’s House, Amy’s response was “The loss of a loved one at such a young age, especially a parent, had a tremendous effect on my life and the paths I went down. I spent many years living with what felt like a continual loss. It was not until my mid-twenties that I came to focus on the joy of my father and the beautiful memories of who he was instead of his death and absence. I now can look at my childhood and life as a blessed one, largely to the strength of my mother and her devotion to my sister and I. Additionally, I not only see resemblances of my father, but I recognize his influence in the person I have become today.”
“It is important to me that children who have lost someone dear to them understand that they are able to "carry" this person with them throughout their lives in a positive way. Additionally, I understand keenly the need for each child to experience love, stability and the ability to share their memories, grief and healing with others.  Judi’s House helps children achieve this.”
During 2009 Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine encourages employees to volunteer throughout the year at Judi’s House as well as provide a monthly hot meal for all of the participants of Judi’s House. Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine is looking forward to working with Judi’s House to continue to promote its vision to the Denver-Area community.
