Rocky Mountain Family Medicine Policies
No Shows and Cancellation Policy
Sometimes it can be difficult to make an appointment because our providers' schedules are full. Missing an appointment and not canceling the appointment can make it difficult for other patients who are trying to be seen.
We ask that you call our office at least 24 hours in advance to cancel your appointment. We give you three opportunities to follow this protocol. Our policy states that should a patient fail to do so, the patient may be asked to seek medical care from another provider. Thank you for your consideration.
Arriving Late for your Appointment
Arriving late for your appointment can also be difficult for us and other patients. When you arrive late and expect to be seen, this forces us to shorten the appointment time for every other patient being seen that day. This is not fair to our other patients. We have a strict policy regarding arriving on-time for your appointment.
You must arrive no later than 20 minutes from your scheduled appointment time. If you are more than 20 minutes late, you will be asked to re-schedule. If you arrive for your appointment after the scheduled appointment time on three occasions, you may be asked to seek medical care from another provider. We appreciate your promptness.
If you are a new patient, it is especially important to come early to complete the necessary paperwork so that you are seen on time.
Controlled Substances Policy
Rocky Mountain Family Medicine realizes that many patients will require narcotic pain medication and other controlled substances at one time or another. Some patients come to us having been on controlled substances for a long period of time. Rocky Mountain Family Medicine does have a strict policy regarding the prescription of controlled substances. A comprehensive policy will be reviewed and signed by the patient. Refills of controlled substances will only be done at a scheduled office visit and will not be done after hours or over the telephone.
Your provider will determine if he or she will prescribe chronic narcotics and may refer you to other providers for your pain management.
Hospital Care
Rocky Mountain Family Medicine currently uses hospitalist services at the Medical Center of Aurora, Swedish Hospital, Porter Hospital, Platte Valley Hospital and St. Anthony's North. Hospitalists are specialists in treating medical conditions that require hospitalization. Relying on hospitalists to take excellent care of our hospitalized patients allows us to be available daily to the majority of our patients who are seen in our offices.
