Rafael Olivares, MD

Dr. Olivares was born in Chile and moved to New York City when he was 14 years old. His move from the East Coast to Colorado was triggered by his now wife, Amy, a Colorado native who he married in Ghana, West Africa. They live in Lakewood with their two young sons.
Dr. Olivares graduated from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He has volunteered his medical skills and time to various medical exchange programs including Bolivia/Colorado Medical Exchange Program, Doctors of the World, Healing the Children and Operation Smile. Dr. Olivares has volunteered in many countries including Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, India, México and Nicaragua.
He is board certified in family practice. He enjoys treating patients of all ages and believes in forming long, close and trusting relationships with his patients. He is very upfront and frank in his communication and thrives working with ethnically and culturally diverse populations.
Dr. Olivares has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association and the Colorado Bridges to Excellence Program.
Besides medicine the other passions in his life are family, the outdoors, swimming, gardening, wood working and chess, he has been carving a chest set that he hopes to finish before retirement.
