Emergencies tend to happen at unexpected times, both during the day and the night. True life-threatening medical emergencies are best managed through our community's Emergency Medical Services.

Poison Control Center
If someone has ingested or been exposed to a potentially toxic substance, the Poison Control Center provides a 24 hours/day service to help. They can help direct you in how to best handle the situation. They can be reached by phone at: (303) 739-1123

Emergency Rooms
Emergency Rooms are equipped to handle all acute medical problems. However, the best use of an emergency room is for true life-threatening emergencies, or when all other medical offices, including urgent care centers, are closed.

Examples of true life-threatening medical problems include:
- Chest pain
- Major trauma
- Potential stroke (numbness, tingling or weakness in any part of your body)
- Severe stomach pain
- Altered mental status
- Injuries with a loss of consciousness
- Children less than the age of 3 months with a fever higher than 100.4 degrees.
